Klinefelter Syndrome

Klinefelter syndrome is a chromosomal condition related to X & Y chromosomes. It is often characterized by male physical & cognitive abnormality. The male sexual development is stunted, the presence of an extra X chromosome interferes with the male sexual development.

Genetic Changes

  • Males have one X & one Y chromosome (XY), while females have two X chromosomes (XX)

  • In some extreme conditions, people have more than one extra X chromosome. (XXY/XXXY/XXXXY)
  • These variants of Klinefelter syndrome cause more severe health problems
